With the release of The Great Sync learning platform and community only weeks away, here is a sneak peak into one of the types of video that will feature throughout the course: case studies.
I ❤️ case studies. I really believe there are not enough of them used in coding bootcamps and courses. The focus is always on either the theory, or the practice project. But case studies allow us to look at other people's code, and practice recognising patterns. They can be small and basic, like the example provided below, or they can be complex deep dives into an application.
This is one of the first that will appear in The Great Sync. It references visual imagimodels and characters for better understanding, and The Imp even makes an appearance - reminding us not to be concerned if new topics or concepts are introduced before the course has covered them. In fact that's the point - learning isn't linear.
I would really appreciate your feedback on this style of video 🙏, and whether more of these excite you or not. Watch below & enjoy.
The aim is to have similar case studies throughout the course, looking at examples from a range of sources including beginner submitted projects, small and big open source libraries, documentation and things I come across in my day-to-day work as a developer.
